With over 20 years of experience in sales, business development and strategic planning spanning high profile organizations such as Yahoo!, Turner Broadcasting, and AOL, I now have the honor of leading an enthusiastic team of associates on end-to-end talent acquisition and recruitment sourcing for notable organizations focused on driving a diverse and equitable workforce.

 

As digital innovation evolves, I believe this connectivity will open doors to life-changing opportunities to people who have traditionally been shut out, allowing significant changes in their lives and the economic and social health of their communities.

 

As an African American executive at the center of the action, I realized other highly skilled professionals have not shared my good fortune. Individual companies and industries consistently miss the mark on diversity.

 

VCs, funded startups, PE funds — while slowly changing — have relatively few women or people of color. I decided nothing could be more important to me than to help drive increased change for diversity in human capital. This is why I founded Amplified.

 

Creating diverse teams does not happen by accident and should not be about checking a box. Cultures need to be transformed from the inside out. Increased diversity creates better teams, more resilient companies, and talent that serve a broader customer base in a more authentic way. When this happens, it is truly magic, and we can finally live up to the promise of a more connected, digital, and empowered age.

As a seasoned professional who serves on the faculty in the business school at Lehman College, a Hispanic serving institution with a multiracial student body, Deborah brings to bear over 15 years of in-depth experience training a diversity of learners in both the theory and practices of marketing.

 

Her course work is designed to address the gaps between traditional college pedagogy and the current day technology demands of the marketing professional. She is a thought leader and staunch advocate for integrating the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) competency skills into her curriculum.

 

Amplified Recruiting provides the ideal platform for collaboration between the marketing industry and burgeoning talent as well as mid-level career changers. As the Director of the Academic Initiative at Amplified, Deborah is positioned to match talented college graduates with forward thinking employers looking to realize the promise of an increasingly diverse workforce. 

 

Prior to teaching, she held positions in the chemical industry, not-for-profit management, and executive coaching.

 

She earned her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware and her Master’s of Business Administration from Columbia University Graduate School Business. She is a member of the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) and the American Marketing Association (AMA).
